T-shirt vs. dress code at the medical profession

It used to be thought that medical clothing should be worn alone – but today the approach to uniforms is changing significantly. In heavily air-conditioned hospitals or during the colder months, an extra layer of clothing underneath is sometimes even indispensable. A properly fitted T-shirt protects against heat loss, while instantly absorbing moisture in moments of increased stress or intense physical exertion with the patient. The key, however, is that it remains completely invisible and does not disrupt the professional image of the doctor, nurse or cosmetologist.

How to choose clothing underneath so as not to spoil the styling?

The basic rule is a perfect fit. A classic mistake, often seen in hospital corridors, is to wear shirts that are too loose, with the excess rolling up under the arms or sticking out from under the hem of a sweatshirt. Tops with shallow crew neck type necklines can be equally problematic. Their edges stand out under the medical V-cut, disrupting the neat look.

Choose close-fitting models, with a sufficiently deep cutout to hide under the scrubs line. When selecting medical attire, also pay attention to the color scheme. It is common practice to wear snow-white underwear under a white uniform, which, paradoxically, is heavily conspicuous. Under light-colored clothing, flesh-colored (nude) shades work best, which offset the risk of unwanted translucency and create a cohesive whole.

Pay attention to the composition of the material

Medical closet must be based on proven textile solutions. As a manufacturer sewing in Poland, we develop our cuts in tests with healthcare and beauty professionals. Instead of empty promises, we rely on concrete compositions.

The premium collection uses a breathable blend of cotton, nylon and lycra to ensure proper thermoregulation. The basic line, on the other hand, is a reliable combination of polyester, viscose and lycra, resistant to frequent washing. Both variants fit well worn directly on the body, as well as paired with a discreet, clinging T-shirt.

Care of multi-layered sets

Both scrubs and the layers worn under them require proper care. Each time, we suggest washing the product before first use. Our medical garments should be washed at 40°C with similar colors and ironed at up to 110°C, on the left side. We do not recommend using strong detergents and bleaching agents, tumble drying and dry cleaning. We encourage you to follow the above washing and maintenance instructions to maximize the life of the product and preserve its quality.

Everything you need to know – FAQ about clothing under scrubs

Should I wear a white t-shirt under white scrubs?

  • White fabric often shines strongly through light-colored outerwear materials. The most elegant and discreet choice under white scrubs will be a matching undershirt in a shade similar to your skin color (nude).

What t-shirt material should I choose for a multi-hour on-call clinic?

  • Definitely bet on thin, breathable fabrics with elastic fibers, such as lycra or elastane. This will ensure that the material works with your body without restricting movement and providing optimal thermoregulation.

Can I wash my undershirts together with my medical scrubs?

  • Yes, as long as you match items in similar colors. Regularly pairing your base layer with your outerwear during laundering makes it easier to organize after a duty cycle and works well – as long as you use mild detergents.

Now that you know what to wear underneath, it’s time to complete your perfect layered uniform! Discover our premium collection in a breathable cotton blend, or opt for a durable basic line – choose medical scrubs that will accentuate your professionalism, ensure freedom of movement and ease any challenge during the longest duty station.
